Lettuce Entertain You
Frequent Diner Club Reward
Redemption Information

Thank you for your interest in learning more about the “Alpana Selects” Wine Library reward.  This reward includes 12 bottles of wine selected by Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises Director of Wine & Spirits and a Master Sommelier.  Following are the wines included in Alpana’s Fall/Winter selections:

2007 Pinot Grigio,
Russian River Valley

Pinot Grigio resembles Pinot Noir until veraison. The clusters when harvested are a beautiful copper color. Being a natural genetic mutation, Pinot Grigio has all the intrigue, complexity and flavors of Pinot Noir, with none of the red color. This vintage suggests that the Russian River Valley can produce Pinot Grigio every bit as glorious as its famous Pinot Noirs. The fruit comes from two vineyards in the Russian River Valley. The grapes were hand harvested and delivered to the winery in half-ton picking bins in the cooler mornings in order to maximize the grapes' integrity.

Color: Pale gold
Aroma: Melon, orange blossom, and spicy
Taste: Lively and fresh with a dense midpalate. Crisp with a lingering finish.

2004 Angels’ Peak,
Napa Valley

Angels’ Peak is the first in a trinity of wines developed by the Terlato family, which pay homage to some of the grand crus of Bordeaux. The Angels' Peak blend follows the traditions of Pomerol; its predominant grape varietal is Merlot and all the traditional methods used are Pomerol inspired. We strive to use old world methods for our new world fruit to produce a wine with drink-ability, old world complexity and age-worthiness. Enjoy it now or cellar it for future enjoyment. Rich and full-bodied, Angels’ Peak is enjoyable while young as it shows off its great promise and will reward those with the patience to cellar it for a few years. The blend, which should age nicely for up to 15 years, has aromas of black cherry, black currant and new leather, with soft, round flavors, plummy fruit, soft tannins, lush mouthfeel and lingering aftertaste.

Color: Deep red
Aroma: Black fruit, tobacco and mocha
Taste: Rich and full-bodied

2004 Merlot,
Napa Valley

A stellar example of why Rutherford Hill is king of the Merlot world, the 2004 vintage is rich with aromas of berries and cocoa. Flavors of dark cherries and chocolate abound in this soft and fleshy, balanced Merlot. The finish is silky and lingering with a hint of vanilla, cinnamon and tobacco. Delicious, alone as an aperitif, as well as when paired with hearty foods like roasts, lamb and steak.

Color: Magenta
Aroma: Berries, cocoa, vanilla and cinnamon with hints of tobacco
Taste:  Dark cherries and rich chocolate with a hint of oaky sweetness

2006 Chardonnay,
Napa Valley

Chardonnay is among the most widely planted grape variety in Napa Valley and by far the most widely planted wine grape in California. The fabulous wines of Chablis and many of our favorite Champagnes are based in this classic varietal. At Rutherford Hill, we have much respect for the noble Chardonnay grape and all our winemaking and viticultural practices are aimed at enhancing the grapes’ natural charm and stylishness. Expect this 2006 bottling to show refined aromas of citrus and nutmeg lifted by pretty floral tones. The weight is just right; round and soft with a welcome beam of bright acidity binding the wine together.

Color: Light straw
Aroma: Pears, citrus, vanilla, nutmeg and floral notes
Taste:  Full-bodied with crisp acidity of citrus and creamy texture
