Michael Twelftree and Richard Mintz entered the wine business with experience in the wine industry, but this know-how couldn’t match their pure love for Australian Shiraz. Their vision was to showcase the regional breadth of this wine, as well as its high-end fruit.

Michael Twelftree
Stuart BlackwellPrior to forming the Two Hands partnership, Twelftree gained valuable experience in the export and marketing of Australian wines in the United States and Asia. Twelftree is the marketing brainchild at the winery, always presenting new ideas in packaging and ways to keep the products top-of-mind. He’s also hands-on in the production process — from classification to blending. This approach has served Two Hands Wines and Twelftree well: In 2004, he was named as one of Robert Parker’s Wine Personalities of the Year.

Richard Mintz
Stuart BlackwellMintz, formerly a chartered accountant who has an MBA from the University of Adelaide, was CEO of a top Australian cooperage house — a venture that allowed him to develop his taste for fine wine. He is active in all areas of the business, from spearheading long-term projects to supporting international distributors. Like Twelftree, Mintz is also heavily involved in the wine production. It was around Mintz’ kitchen table that the “two hands” nurtured their idea to establish the winery, laying the foundation for one of Australia’s premium Shiraz producers.

Twelftree’s grasp of the wine industry and Mintz’ business insights have created an ideally balanced joint effort. Their vision has produced a collection of wines that are creatively and effectively marketed.
