Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot
Wine enthusiasts consider Napa Valley home to the best quality California wine. A premier appellation within Napa Valley is the AVA for Tangley Oaks — part of the larger North Coast AVA. This appellation sits between the Mayacamas and Vaca Mountains — about 50 miles north of San Francisco. Comprising more than 43,000 acres, it is premium farmland for many classic grape varietals. The microclimates in this region are particularly ideal for growing Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. A cool breeze, morning fog and a wide range of temperatures on any given day allow the fruit to achieve a style found nowhere else in the world. The grapes also benefit from a distinct terroir – soil that has traces of volcanic deposits, which provide unique benefits to the vines. The results are decidedly upscale red wines with aromas and flavors that are of unmatched quality. Both Tangley Oaks Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon can be paired with many classic entrees.

Chardonnay
Santa Barbara County AVA is considered an ideal growing region for Chardonnay, its most widely planted varietal. Part of the Central Coast area of California, Santa Barbara County produces wines from the valleys tucked just eastward of the Pacific coastline. The warm days are followed by cool nights, which protect the grapes — along with the ocean breezes that sweep eastward through mountains and further cool the valleys. Although viticulture in the area is centuries old, it wasn’t until the 1960s that UC Davis enologists designated the area as a premier winegrowing region. It now has a status that resonates with connoisseurs of fine wine. The cool nights and cool breezes pair with the warm afternoon sunshine to produce Tangley Oaks Chardonnay, which has crisp acidity, and tropical aromas and flavors. These characteristics make Santa Barbara Chardonnay unlike any others in California; they pay homage to the great white wine styles of Burgundy. This elegance makes Santa Barbara County Chardonnay a classic varietal that has absolute prominence in the wine market.
