Sokol Blosser’s underground barrel cellar illustrates the integration of the family’s goals of quality and sustainability. The cellar enhances wine quality by providing a quiet, temperature- and humidity-controlled environment for aging of Pinot Noir, and was built according to the US Green Building Council’s rigorous standards. The cellar keeps the barrels at a constant 55 degrees without air conditioning and the living roof of wild flowers and grasses attracts beneficial insects to the vineyard. Sokol Blosser was the first winery in the country to earn the prestigious LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification.
