Louis Strydom
Head Winemaker
Louis Strydom did his formal studies in winemaking at Elsenburg College in Stellenbosch. He was appointed at Rust en Vrede Wine Estate in 1998, and his duties later were extended to include all of the wines in the Ernie Els portfolio. Louis has never been shy to experiment with new and exciting varietals. However, his core focus is producing red blends, which he has had done with great success, as several of his wines have been named to the “Wine Spectator Top 100” four years in succession.
